The Sterile Processing Technician Program offers a hands-on practical approach to learning the skills and techniques required to work in this vital department of a hospital or healthcare facility. Students will log a minimum of 180/400 hours of clinical hands-on Sterile Processing Technician experience in the classroom and in an actual medical facility. The program provides the student with the necessary tools to successfully take and pass the International Certification Exam from the IACSHM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management). Successful completion of this exam will result in a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) credential.

Responsible for rendering and coordinating the daily operations of the sterile processing department in accordance with federal, state, accreditation and hospital policies and procedures. Provides professional assistance and support to other department staff. Responds to OR and end-user requests, ensuring proper communication and resolution of any identified issues or concerns. Participates in the sterile processing/central sterile team meetings, seminars, in-services, and educational offerings as requested by IMS. Provides support in the Supervisor’s absence. May perform other duties as assigned.
