Abstract: Computing professionals face a special challenge in trying to keep up with developments in their field. They need prompt and efficient access to information in order to keep abreast of the latest trends and innovations. There a:re several standard ways of accessing such information, including l discussion and interaction with other professionals, l books and manuals, l college courses, l in-house training, l seminars and conferences, and l professional journals and periodicals. Journals and periodicals are particularly important sources of organized and relatively current information. Because of the wide variety of computer publications available to the professional, however, it is often difficult to find the right ones. The Quarterly Bibliography of Computers and Data Processing lists over 120 publications, 60 percent of them dealing primarily with computing, and th’e rest with related areas like management, electronics, and business. New periodicals continue to appear on a regular basis.
